What are GMerix’s coating and slitting capabilities?

GMerix operates a water-based coater equipped with Mayer rod and gravure coating stations, as well as a hotmelt coater with a slot die head. We also offer UV hotmelt coating with integrated real-time UV dose measurement for precise curing control. Our slitting and rewinding services include both razor blade and shear knife slitting capabilities. GMerix supports customers from proof-of-concept pilot trials to full-scale mass production, with daily trial services available for development and validation.

What types of adhesives and coatings can you apply?

We work with rubber-based hotmelt, acrylic-based UV hotmelt, and water-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, inkjet-receptive coatings, varnishes, topcoats, clay coats, and other specialty coatings including heat-seal and barrier coatings for labels, tapes, packaging, and digital media. Our team can recommend or develop coatings tailored to your application.

Which materials and facestocks can you coat or supply?

We coat and laminate a wide range of roll materials used in labels, tapes, and packaging, including plastic films (e.g., PET, BOPP, PVC, and PE), paper, as well as plastic or paper release liners.

Can GMerix help develop custom adhesives, coatings, or label constructions?

Yes. GMerix offers custom R&D and product development, including adhesive and coating formulation, lab testing, pilot coating, and scale-up to production. We can help you design new label or tape constructions or improve existing ones for specific performance requirements.

Can GMerix slit and rewind films, paper, tapes, and label materials to custom specifications?

Yes. GMerix provides precision slitting and rewinding for films, paper, self-wound tapes, label stock, metal films, and other flexible substrates. Rolls can be converted to the widths and winding specifications required for your packaging, labeling, or printing process. What is Saraprint and how is it different from standard polyester film?

Saraprint is Polyplex's non-tearable polyester film range engineered specifically for dry toner and HP Indigo digital printing. It offers excellent print quality, high dimensional stability, strong ink adhesion, and durable, water-resistant, scuff-free prints. GMerix is the sole distributor of Saraprint by Polyplex in Canada. Saraprint is available in a variety of white, transparent, translucent (frosty), and metallic grades, including gold, silver, dual metallic, and pearl finishes, in both sheet and roll formats. We can also coat thinner gauges with customers’ desired adhesives and liners for both roll and sheet printing applications.

Step #1: Planning

Every trial begins with a planning meeting to understand your objectives and define a clear trial plan. Whether you're developing a new product, evaluating a new adhesive or coating, optimizing a formulation, or testing specific process parameters, our team works with you to establish the trial goals and success criteria before scheduling the trial.

Step #2: Execution

On the trial day, customers are welcome to attend and participate throughout the process. GMerix provides the required equipment, technical specialists, and machine operators to execute the trial according to the agreed plan.

Step #3: Adjustments

If adjustments are needed during the trial, they can be made in real time. Parameters such as formulation, coating weight, line speed, drying conditions, and other processing variables can be modified to help achieve the desired results.

Step #4: Post-Trial Report

Throughout the trial, all process settings, observations, and changes are carefully documented. Afterward, we provide a detailed trial report so you have a complete record of what was tested and the corresponding results. This documentation also makes it easy to repeat successful conditions or build on previous trials during future development.
